The **Advanced** step is optional. Use it to add **Transforms** and **Filters** to the synced data.

## Choose how a sync runs

Steerco offers these sync methods and modes:

* **Incremental Sync:** Pulls only the records that changed since the last sync. Use it for routine syncs.
* **Full Sync:** Pulls every record again from the start. Use it after you change the mapping, or to repair missing data.
* **Preview mode:** Sends later syncs to a preview database instead of your workspace. Turn it on to check the data before it reaches your records.

To run either sync method, see [Schedule syncs](/integrations/sync-schedule). To turn on **Preview mode**, open the more actions menu on the manage page and switch it on. You can't change it while a sync runs.

When you create a custom object, choose its **Sync Strategy**. You can't change it later.

* **Full Replace:** Replaces all synced data on each sync. Pick it when the source has no unique ID.
* **Append Only:** Adds records and never updates them. Pick it for event or log data.
* **Upsert:** Updates records that match by ID and adds the rest. Pick it when each source row has a unique ID.

## Review matched users and accounts

After a sync brings in users or accounts, the **Review Mapping** tab appears. Use it to check and correct how the tool's users and accounts match their Steerco counterparts.
